SMART Technologies releases new series of interactive whiteboards, SMART Board 800. The new whiteboards incorporate an innovative Multitouch technology which allows the simultaneous use of the interactive surface with fingers or with special markers, by two users.

The new features incorporated by the SMART Board 800 series, recommend them as one of the best in the industry:

• Multiuser - the whiteboard can be used by multiple users simultaneously
• Object awareness - uses cameras to identify when a user switches between using a finger, palm, pen and eraser, without having to press buttons, access on-screen menus or replace tools in the Pen Tray
• Touch gestures* - use simple, intuitive hand and finger gestures to toss, rotate or zoom in on objects and is compatible with operating systems like Microsoft Windows 7 and Mac Snow Leopard
• Freestyle interaction* - two users can instantly start working together without having to switch into a separate multiuser mode or work in a confined area
• Any object can be converted into a writing instrument on board - very useful feature for students with special needs who may, for example, use a tennis ball to write on the whiteboard
• Smart Ink - handwriting is recognized and converted to be legible

* Feature will be supported in SMART Notebook software upon release of updated software (SMART Notebook 10.7), expected by March 2011.
